About the Opportunity

We’re partnered with a nationally recognized  general contractor specializing in complex federal and institutional vertical construction projects . This firm has a longstanding reputation for excellence in delivering new construction and renovation work for clients like  USACE, NAVFAC, GSA, and the Department of Veterans Affairs , as well as state and municipal agencies. With offices in key regions across the U.S., they maintain a strong pipeline of large-scale federal work valued between $30M and $100M.

 

They are hiring a  Senior Estimator  to join their team and support pre construction efforts on high-profile public sector jobs. This is a  local role  — candidates must live near one of the following offices:  Austin, Dallas, Jacksonville, or Lenexa .

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead preconstruction and estimating efforts for federal, institutional, and municipal projects
  • Prepare quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and budgets for vertical construction ($30M–$100M range)
  • Collaborate with project executives, design teams, and subcontractors to ensure bid accuracy
  • Perform detailed scope reviews, pricing breakdowns, and cost comparisons
  • Participate in RFP/RFQ responses, proposal preparation, and design-build pursuits
  • Maintain updated cost history and current market pricing for trades, labor, and materials

 

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of estimating experience with a  general contractor
  • Must be local to one of the office locations listed above
  • Experience with  federal and military construction projects is required (USACE, NAVFAC, GSA, VA, etc.)
  • Comfortable estimating  vertical construction projects: barracks, dorms, MOB/hospitals, classrooms, dining halls, maintenance facilities
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
  • Strong knowledge of preconstruction practices, quantity takeoffs, and cost analysis
  • Proficient with estimating software and Microsoft Excel
