Job Title: Packaging Engineer Job Description Under limited supervision, provide technical support to a manufacturing facility by leading projects involved with the design, development, installation, and documentation of new and existing materials, equipment, and processes for packaging. Responsibilities + Provide timely support to Manufacturing, Distribution, vendors, and dealers to diagnose problems and implement solutions to resolve complaints and production issues. + Collaborate with Sourcing, Marketing, Engineering, Quality, Project Teams, and Test Lab. + Interact with Global Logistics to resolve packaging issues for import/export. + Ensure the database is loaded and current to production processes. + Create work instructions and train operators. + Evaluate processes to ensure optimal material, labor, and cube costs to increase productivity and profitability. + Identify prime areas for improvement through justifications and evaluations. + Evaluate, test, and implement environmentally friendly, cost-effective packaging solutions. + Keep current with new technology and processes to reduce damage complaints. + Provide technical support for the implementation of packaging for new products introduced into the plant. + Ensure that packaging for new products and specials meets cost/profit targets, conforms to shipping specifications, and is implemented per schedule. Essential Skills + Good analytical and problem-solving skills. + Organized and a self-starter. + Independent and reliable worker. + Experience working in manufacturing and office environments with multiple groups. + Ability to perform cost analysis of cube and materials. + Adaptable to change. + Ability to communicate ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences. + Working knowledge of packaging equipment, materials, and processes. + Proficiency in MS Office, CAPE, SAP, Windchill. + Good at investigating quality issues. + Creativity with packaging design projects. + Familiarity with ASTM and ISTA ship test specifications. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
