Schedule: Monday–Friday
Location: Roncalli Elementary School & St. Francis of Assisi Waldo Site Buildings
Pay: $20 - 22 per hour (based on experience)Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Parish Facilities Team Coordinator, the Maintenance Technician works collaboratively with the Roncalli Elementary School and St. Francis of Assisi Parish staff. As part of the facilities team, this individual ensures the safety, cleanliness, and efficient operation of all buildings and grounds at both sites.
Duties & Responsibilities
Support and uphold the values and teachings of the Catholic Church.
Maintain the cleanliness and safety of all Waldo Site buildings for students, faculty, parishioners, and staff.
Perform regular maintenance on boiler systems and lawn equipment, including small engine repairs; report larger issues to supervisors.
Assist with winter maintenance, including snow removal from walkways, parking lots, and drives.
Participate in summer cleaning projects, such as deep floor scrubbing, stripping, waxing, and other preparations for the new school year.
Assist with setup and cleanup for special events.
Maintain inventory of cleaning equipment, materials, and supplies.
Ensure compliance with building codes, fire safety standards, and school emergency protocols.
Contribute to continuous quality improvement and uphold industry standards.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Proficient with basic hand and power tools, as well as equipment required for maintenance tasks.
Ability to safely handle hazardous materials and enforce safety procedures among staff and volunteers.
Basic computer skills, including word processing, email, and calendar management.
Strong problem-solving and task prioritization skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to interact professionally with staff, volunteers, parishioners, children, contractors, and vendors.
High level of self-discipline, motivation, and ability to work independently.
Flexibility to adjust schedule and tasks as needed.
Strong time management and sound judgment.
Maintain a neat appearance and good personal hygiene.
Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience in building management, custodial, or maintenance work preferred.
Physical Requirements
Ability to spend 80–90% of the workday on feet performing moderate physical activity.
Capable of working in both indoor and outdoor environments.
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
Other Requirements
Valid driver’s license with no serious violations.
Ability to use a computer or phone app for logging work hours.
Must pass a background check and maintain current VIRTUS training certification.
Employment Terms
Full-time, 1st shift (Monday–Friday)
At-will employment
Wages paid semi-monthly (15th & last day of each month)
On-site position (no remote work option)
