Position Purpose:

Our client is an Employee Owned (ESOP) Company and an innovative global leader providing highly engineered precision metallic tubular parts and assemblies for the commercial aircraft, defense, and space segments of the aerospace industry. The Company is seeking a Cost Accountant to join its team.

The Cost Accountant is responsible for planning, studying, and collecting data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory and labor and analyzing actual manufacturing costs and preparing reports for management review and decision making. Comparing standard costs to actual production costs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage and control the activities of the Cost Accounting functions.
  
• Prepare reports summarizing company business activities monthly, quarterly, and annually
  
• Analyze and report costs of business activities such as raw material purchases, inventory and labor
  
• Analyze and publish monthly manufacturing variance reports, on labor, purchase price, usage, scrap and overhead
  
• Responsible for timely and accurate month-end close
  
• Perform cost accounting analyses and support financial audits
  
• Provide support to meet the finance department’s goals and objectives.
  
• Ensure that the finance department is operating according to departmental policies and procedures and in compliance with GAAP and internal controls process.
  
• Manage and review accuracy of the inventory cost system.
  
• Maintain monthly reconciliation of perpetual inventory to general ledger.
  
• Investigate reasons for out of balance conditions and make corrections.
  
• Develop metrics to reduce manufacturing operations costs
  
• Participate and assist in annual budgeting process and work with year-end close process
  
• Prepare reports required by regulatory agencies, including sales & use tax
  
• Provide cost analysis for the manufacturing and operational activities in the company.
  
• Oversees the day-to-day implementation and execution of the continuous improvement plans
  

Requirements

Background and Experience:

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field or combination of education and related experience

Desired Certifications: Certified Cost Accountant (CCA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred but not required

Experience, knowledge and skills:

An experienced professional with 1 - 3 years of experience as a Cost Accountant in a Manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have the following preferred experience;

• Excellent communication; written, verbal, and presentations
  
• Successfully manages projects, programs
  
• Experienced with MS Suite, Outlook, ERP systems (Our ERP System is Plex)

• Effectively works cross functionally with all departments.
  
• ITAR verifiable
  

Able to pass a pre placement physical, drug/alcohol screening
